GTA III contains 20 two-minute rampage challenges spread across the three main islands.
Rampages are short timed combat challenges that ask Claude to kill a target number of gang members or destroy vehicles with a specified weapon. All 20 are required for 100% completion, and each failure can move the rampage pickup to an alternate spawn, which is why a location can seem to “disappear.”
| Island | Rampages |
|---|---|
| Portland | 6 |
| Staunton Island | 7 |
| Shoreside Vale | 7 |
| Total | 20 |
Track each island separately. A global total of 19 does not tell you where the missing pickup is, especially after failed attempts move some starts.
Walking into the rampage icon starts a two-minute challenge. The game gives a specific weapon or vehicle-destruction objective, and nearby target gangs/traffic become the focus. You must meet the target before time expires and without dying.
If you fail, the pickup alternates to its second location. This mechanic is useful because one spawn can be tactically easier than the other, but it also confuses players who return to the original spot expecting the icon to remain there.
Do Portland rampages early. Story progression turns some gangs heavily hostile, and later weapons such as shotguns can damage Claude or his vehicle before the timed challenge even settles into a rhythm.
Early completion also lets you learn how rampages spawn enemies before the denser Staunton and Shoreside challenges.
Rampages are easier to manage when completed island by island before gang hostility becomes severe.
Busy roads are useful because traffic constantly supplies targets. Trigger chain explosions when possible and avoid standing next to burning vehicles. If the supplied weapon has limited practical range, position yourself where cars must slow or turn.
A destroyed vehicle only helps if it counts within the active challenge, so do not waste time on empty wrecks or inaccessible traffic.
Gang hostility changes the environment outside the challenge itself. You can arrive with less health, have your vehicle destroyed on the way in, or attract extra gunfire while lining up targets. That is why completion guides often recommend optional combat/vehicle activities before late story hostility.
All 20 must be completed. If your overall completion percentage is short, compare your rampage total with 20 and then check other easy-to-forget categories such as phone missions, RC Toyz and import/export lists.
Use the GTA III 100% checklist as the master list rather than assuming all side content appears as map icons.
Rampages can put more pedestrians, combat and explosions on screen than ordinary driving. On a low-end system, use a 30 FPS cap for more predictable load. If performance drops only during heavy explosion chains, compare against a normal street scene before diagnosing the entire browser build as slow.
Use the GTA III Browser launcher for the re3 WebAssembly runtime and one-time OPFS archive cache.
